Product overview
DIN 912 remains a widely used RFQ designation for cylindrical-head fasteners with an internal hexagon drive. A useful quotation also needs the exact edition or approved drawing, thread size, nominal length, threaded length, mechanical requirement, surface finish, quantity, packing and any inspection or document requirement.
ISO’s official catalogue states that ISO 4762:2004 specifies hexagon socket head cap screws with metric coarse pitch threads from M1.6 to M64 and product grade A. The publication was reviewed and confirmed in 2023. XHT does not assume that a buyer’s DIN 912 request can be changed to another standard without approval.
Common ordering range
The options below cover common international RFQs. Availability, tolerances and compliance are confirmed size by size before quotation.
| Selection field | Common RFQ options | Quotation note |
|---|---|---|
| Standard basis | DIN 912 edition, ISO 4762:2004 or customer drawing | The governing document must be stated; substitution is not assumed. |
| Thread diameter | Common enquiries: M1.6, M2, M2.5, M3, M4, M5, M6, M8, M10, M12, M14, M16, M18, M20, M22, M24, M27, M30 and M36. Current ISO 4762 scope extends from M1.6 to M64. | Confirm diameter, nominal length, threaded length and quantity for every line item. |
| Common coarse pitch reference | M1.6×0.35 · M2×0.4 · M2.5×0.45 · M3×0.5 · M4×0.7 · M5×0.8 · M6×1.0 · M8×1.25 · M10×1.5 · M12×1.75 · M14×2.0 · M16×2.0 · M18×2.5 · M20×2.5 · M22×2.5 · M24×3.0 · M27×3.0 · M30×3.5 · M36×4.0 | Fine, left-hand and special threads can be supplied when defined by the RFQ or drawing. |
| Material and grade | Carbon or alloy steel: 8.8, 10.9 or 12.9; stainless steel: A2-70, A4-70 or A4-80 | Mechanical requirements, test scope and certificates are confirmed before order. |
| Surface finish | Plain/oiled, black oxide, zinc plated, zinc flake, passivated stainless or specified coating system | State colour, coating thickness, corrosion requirement, drive-fit and thread-fit expectations. |
| Custom supply | Non-standard length, threaded length, special thread, drive requirement, marking, coating, packaging, drawing-based or sample-based production | Custom sizes are reviewed from drawings or samples. |
Reference selections support RFQ preparation only. Final dimensions and acceptance criteria follow the buyer-approved standard edition, drawing and order specification.
