Self-clinching nuts provide an internal thread in compatible sheet metal. During installation, parallel squeezing presses the nut into a prepared hole and moves sheet material into its retention feature. The panel material, hardness, thickness and hole preparation are therefore part of the fastener specification. XHT can review an enquiry against a released drawing, specified catalogue reference or approved sample. Feasibility, source, dimensions, installation requirements and documents are request-dependent and confirmed in the written quotation.

Application review
Internal-thread attachment in compatible sheet-metal panels, with panel hardness, thickness and receiving-hole limits specified.
Installation / assembly review
- Identify the press, parallel installation tooling, panel support and approved installation force or procedure. Include a panel sample when installation behaviour is critical.
- Agree dimensional inspection, thread gaging, seating inspection and any push-out or torque-out test using the actual panel and a stated acceptance plan.
What to include in your RFQ
- Provide panel material, hardness and minimum thickness; receiving-hole diameter and tolerance; and distance from the hole centre to edges or bends.
- Identify the press, parallel installation tooling, panel support and approved installation force or procedure. Include a panel sample when installation behaviour is critical.
- Agree dimensional inspection, thread gaging, seating inspection and any push-out or torque-out test using the actual panel and a stated acceptance plan.
- Send part number, drawing revision, quantity, destination and packing instructions. Specify sample approval, batch identification and inspection records when required; these are order-dependent.
