Low-temperature pressure bolting

ASTM A320 Grade L7 Stud Bolt

ASTM A320/A320M Grade L7 stud bolts controlled by purchased edition, unit system, thread, dimensions, heat treatment, impact requirements, compatible nuts, finish, marking and project documentation.

  • ASTM A320/A320M edition and Grade L7 explicitly stated
  • Design minimum temperature and required impact-test basis
  • Inch or SI unit system, diameter, thread and length definition
  • Matching nut material, grade and impact requirement
  • Heat lot, testing, marking, coating, packing and records

Catalogue ranges are RFQ guidance. Final compliance is controlled by the buyer-approved standard edition, drawing, specification and purchase order.

Product overview

Low-temperature service must be defined in the purchase requirement

ASTM A320/A320M covers alloy and stainless bolting materials and components for low-temperature service. Grade L7 cannot be specified safely by grade name alone; the purchased edition, service temperature and required impact basis must be stated.

A visual similarity to B7 does not make the grades interchangeable. Heat treatment, mechanical properties, impact testing, nut pairing, marking and traceability remain controlled by the order.

What to include in your RFQ

  • ASTM A320/A320M edition and Grade L7 explicitly stated
  • Design minimum temperature and required impact-test basis
  • Inch or SI unit system, diameter, thread and length definition
  • Matching nut material, grade and impact requirement
  • Heat lot, testing, marking, coating, packing and records

Technical control

Use the governing document—not a catalogue assumption

ASTM A320/A320M applies to bolting for low-temperature service. The buyer must state the relevant service temperature, impact-test and nut requirements; this page does not assign a temperature rating or approve substitution with another alloy-steel grade.

Applications & supply

Options matched to the assembly requirement

Application examples guide the RFQ. Suitability must be verified for the actual connection, service environment and governing specification.
